  The staff on arrival were freindly and showed us to our room. The room was very small but clean. We had lunch before check in and the service was a bit slow, this also continued to the breakfast on the 2 mornings we stayed.

  Mckays is located in an excellent location in the town. We stayed for 2 nights and overall had a good stay the rooms were very clean but maybe a little on the small side. The only complain would be the restaurant staff didn't seem to communicate with each other meaning meals came and were incorrect or over cooked. Breakfast wasn't great on both morning and Ok we didn't have it till 10am but if you serve till 10:30 am you should expect the same service as those arriving at 8am.

  We'd heard both good and bad things about McKays but we wanted to see for ourselves. We were quickly seated and our order taken but sadly that's where the good service stopped. I asked for a rare steak but it came well done, partner ordered coleslaw but it never arrived. For the price the food wasn't up to standard and we'd found better value elsewhere in the town the previous two nights. The chips were however faultless and I'd probably consider returning for a take away from the chip shop attached to the side of the main bar/restaurant. When it came to paying the bill it took an age to arrive and then they took some time longer to bring the card machine. A poor experience​ all in all and even the great location and atmosphere will prevent us from returning.
